Mosquito Repellants

Enjoy being outdoors naturally

Two plants that help you to enjoy being outdoors are Pelargonium crispum and lemon grass, both wildly popular and natural mosquito repellants.

Also known as the “citronella plant,” Pelargonium crispum is actually a lemon-scented geranium with small, ruffled foliage that does well in small containers and spaces, especially near outdoor seating areas. Crush a few leaves to help keep bugs at bay.

Lemon grass can become rather large, so it is better suited for growing in big containers and in the landscape surrounding decks or patios, where it can be bruised to release citronella oil.

Feed and water both plants regularly during the growing season and avoid letting the soil dry out. Check daily for dryness during hot, dry weather.
